Marbletown, New York

Culture, History, Historic House, Historical Society

The Ulster Historical Society was founded in 1859, largely though the efforts of State Senator George W. Pratt. Pratt, Commanding Colonel of the 20th Regiment, New York State Militia (80th NYSV) was mortally wounded in 1862 at the Second Battle of Bull Run. With his death, the Society became dormant until 1930, when an enthusiastic group let by Judge G.V.D. Hasbrouck revived it.

Children's

The Children's Museum is an educationally enjoyable not-for-profit. Schools, daycares, scouts, families, seniors, tourists interact w/the 100's of hands-on exhibits on our 4 floors for hours of exploring fun! We are the only children's museum adopted by NASA and the Office of Science. The interesting Romanesque Revival exterior remains as imposing as ever, and the charm of the period remains inside with its decoratively paneled central oak staircase, an original glass and wood paneled office, and fourteen foot high ceiling sheathed in fancy pressed tin.
